IN PARALLEL : SOLO SHOW AT THE GRAND PALAIS AND IN THE GALERIE ARTISYOU, PARIS
Thanks to a collaboration between the Galerie Artisyou and the Galerie Comparative, the artist's works can be seen in Paris for the first time since 1986, at Art Paris at the Grand Palais and at 10 rue des Beaux-Arts (75006 Paris).
While it is currently celebrated in San Francisco at the Gagosian Gallery and the Saatchi Gallery in London, it is the first monographic exhibition of the artist in France.
The works of MAEKAWA are present in the permanent collections of the Tate Gallery in London, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Tokyo or Kyoto and are the subject of regular retrospectives at the Whitestone Gallery in Tokyo, Dominique Levy, New York.
WORKS FROM THE ARTIST' STUDIO
If the artist has constantly used the same material, he has continually explored various plastic possibilities, playing with sobriety or overload, with the predominance of either linear character or color, with the integration of others materials such as string, with the vertical, horizontal or biomorphic dimension of some compositions, with the more sculptural aspect of some works of the 1960s.
A historical work of 1964 is visible at the Grand Palais, alongside more than ten works from 1991 to 2014, directly from the artist's studio in Osaka.
