Robert Combas creates works in a single and unclassifiable style, marked by a complete freedom. He becomes in 1979 with Hervé di Rosa the representant of the Figuration Libre, a group that gathers the defenders of a new figurative painting, « which does not deny its primitive instincts and a will of culture ». 

 

Inspired by popular culture, this insatiable artist produces a spontaneous work where color shoot up from everywhere. With humour, Robert Combas represents daily life; violent scenes as well as intense sexuality ones.
